Health Care Chaplaincy Standards

These Standards represent a Chaplaincy-led initiative, in response to a recognised need to establish an approach to training and development for Health Care Chaplains. They will also be of value to Church and Health Service personnel concerned with the appointment of Chaplains and the development of a Chaplaincy service. The Standards are imaginative, exciting and provide a firm base for Chaplains at all stages of their professional development. They will encourage and assist in the training of Health Care Chaplains and contribute to the provision of high quality care.

Miscarriage, Stillbirth & Neonatal Death
(Revised Edition 1993 - currently out of print)

Hospital and Health Care workers recognise increasingly that miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal death represent an area of real loss for all those involved. It is essential that clergy and Hospital Chaplains should be equally aware of the situation and equipped to deal with it. These Guidelines are intended as a resource to help them provide sensitive and imaginative pastoral care.

Health Care Chaplaincy Volunteers

This attractive and practical handbook meets a need among health care chaplains for guidelines in the training of volunteers. Many chaplains have been struggling with a keen and willing voluntary force but without the necessary training tools. This material is produced by those involved in the selection and training of volunteers and contains a detailed training programme along with criteria for the selection and appointment of volunteers. The handbook reflects what is happening at the cutting edge of the NHS and is endorsed by the Chaplaincy (Health Care) Education and Development Group to be used ecumenically. Those using the book will find a helpful balance between reflective practice and the reality of using volunteers. The material will also be of interest for those organising lay visitor schemes in the parish situation and much of the material is transposable. Some of the material may be photocopied.

Price £17.50 (including binder). P&P -£2.50 for copy, £5.00 for 2 copies, thereafter £5.00
